Our AI & Transportation Research Lab at the City College of New York is seeking one highly self-motivated PhD student to join our team, with start dates in Spring 2025 or Fall 2026. If you have a background in Intelligent Transportation Systems and a passion for innovation, we encourage you to apply.
Our research focuses on developing cutting-edge solutions to enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of transportation systems. As a member of our collaborative group, you will work on impactful projects at the intersection of civil engineering, artificial intelligence, and advanced sensing technologies.
Potential Research Directions
Successful candidates will contribute to one or more of the following research areas:
- Multi-modality Traffic Monitoring
- Multi-model Large Language Models
- AI/Machine Learning/Computer Vision for Transportation Applications
- Vehicle Characterization
- Urban Transportation Data Analytics
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Motivation: A highly self-motivated researcher with a passion for discovery.
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation), Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Programming: Demonstrated proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Statistics: A solid foundation in statistical methods and data analysis.
- Deep Learning: Knowledge of deep learning algorithms and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is preferred.
- Sensors: Experience with traffic sensors such as LiDARs and cameras is a plus.
